Ensure Your Electronic Messaging Fits CASL Regs by July 1

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) came into effect on July 1, 2014. On June 7, 2017, the private right of legal action was indefinitely suspended due to lobbying (from the Canadian Marketing Association and the Chamber of Commerce) and the agreement that Canadian consumers are already well-protected by the three regulators tasked with enforcing CASL.

The transitional period ends on July 1, 2017. Make sure all your electronic communications comply with the regulations. Otherwise, you can be fined.

See IBAA's "Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) Brokerage Compliance Outline" and other CASL-related documents in IBAA's broker Resource Library. (You'll need to logon to access member content.)
