Main Objectives

  • Lobbying on behalf of our member brokers
  • Delivering quality, affordable, and accessible insurance education programs
  • Providing member benefits, such as marketing and business support, group health insurance, and insurance products

Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta (IBAA) is a not-for-profit trade association that represents more than 5300 insurance brokers. Our member brokers represent over 320 individual brokerages and work in over 550 offices throughout Alberta, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Living and working in approximately 167 communities, our member brokers are closely connected with insurance consumers, their communities, and local issues, economics, and goals.

BipperStarted in 1921 by insurance brokers, IBAA is still governed by brokers through a board of directors.

As the Alberta branch of Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC), IBAA supports the broker advantage—the view that consumer insurance interests are best served through insurance brokers who can find the best coverage from many different insurers at the best price. Association brokers use the symbol of IBAC's Broker Identity Program (BIP), the stylized person/i, to represent our dedication to insurance consumer protection and trust.
