A Level 2 license allows you to work without immediate supervision in a brokerage governed by someone with a Level 3 license.

Licensing Level 2 Course Description

Increase your professional knowledge of personal and commercial P&C insurance, supervisory responsibility, and brokerage management as you prepare for the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) Licensing Level 2 exam.

  • Personal and Commercial Property: principles, statutory conditions, policies, coverages, exclusions, forms, endorsements, and floaters
  • Personal and Commercial Automobile: principles and statutory conditions for automobile insurance, along with the SAF, SPFs, and SEFs policy, forms, and endorsements
  • Personal and Commercial Liability: principles of liability and tort in Canadian law and liability insurance coverages, limitations, exclusions, and statutory conditions in habitational and commercial policies and forms
  • Farm: property and liability, policies, coverages, exclusions, floaters, riders
  • Marine: ocean and inland marine policies, coverages, and exclusions
  • Aviation: coverages, liability, exclusions
  • Accident and Sickness: types of policies
  • Travel: common coverages and exclusions, and optional coverage
  • Bonds: definitions, classes, and types
  • Insurance industry, associations, companies, regulations, sales, service, professionalism, and management
The course textbook, shipped with all registrations (Insurance Brokers Association of Canada's Personal Lines Level 2 Licensing with IBAA's supplement on bonds and commercial lines, farm, aviation, accident and sickness, travel insurance, and broker industry and management knowledge), includes Alberta-specific materials and up-to-date licensing requirements.

Exams
IBAA provides insurance courses and study material. For the exam, register with Alberta Insurance Council (AIC): 780.421.4148 / 403.233.2929). AIC needs your CIPR #, so if you don't have one, obtain it first from the Canadian Insurance Participant Registry (www.cipr.ca).
