Local Council Information and Events

Want to be involved and have a voice in your association?
Local councils provide regional voices in the provincial IBAA and enable members to network locally. With the support of IBAA, local councils bring in speakers, offer courses, and host events including golf tournaments, education award ceremonies, and underwriter appreciation night. The organization of the IBAA board of directors and the yearly visit to each local council by IBAA’s president underscore the importance of regional-provincial interaction and networking in the association.
Local Council Organization
The positions within each local council are established by the local council, but each includes a president/chair who acts for a one-year term as the local council chair on the IBAA board of directors. IBAA also encourages each council to have a Professional Development chair/director and a Professional Young Insurance Brokers (PYIB) representative who sits on IBAA's PYIB board of directors. Some local councils include positions such as vice-president/vice-chair, secretary treasurer, communications director, membership director, and special events director.
Elections are held yearly, all positions are voluntary, and new faces are always welcome. Contact your local council chair for specific details.
