Membership Types


Full Members
A brokerage that has the capacity to represent one or more insurer, that owns its book of business, and that controls its operations—the brokerage extends membership to its employees
Affiliate Members
A brokerage located in Northwest Territories, Yukon Territory, or Nunavut Territory, or an organization that does not meet the definition of a brokerage but its source of income is derived from the insurance industry (excluding those owned by a financial institution)—the organization extends to its employees affiliate member privileges: member pricing on IBAA courses and products; the ability to participate in local council meetings but without voting rights or ability to hold an elected office on the local council or the IBAA board of directors and officers; ability for affiliate brokerages to use BIP branding
Associate Members: CAIB, CPIB, CCIB
Allows CAIB, CPIB, or CCIB graduates who are not IBAA members to use these designations from the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada and obtain member pricing on IBAA courses and products—no voting rights
