CAIB 1 Immersion Course Description

16.0 CE credits for General and Adjuster licences

Whether you're working toward your CAIB designation, taking this course as a means to bypass the Licensing exams, or just to sharpen your insurance skill set join us for a week of study. Our intense week-long Immersions are for those who like to work with peers and have the benefit of an instructor. Four days of instructional time, and a final day split between course review in the morning and, should you choose, the exam in the afternoon(1:00pm-4:30pm).
*Exams will only be offered to those who have registered to write the exam alongside the class. Registration for exams will only remain open up to two weeks prior to the first day of class.*

This registration will include the course textbook, study guide and exam prep tools. Additional supplementary materials will be presented upon the first day of class.

A minimum of 75% attendance entitles you to course credits. If you don't qualify through attendance, you will still be granted CE credits upon completion of the CAIB exam with a grade of 50% or higher. CE credits will not be given out twice for the same CAIB module.

CAIB Program Objectives

  • Apply your technical knowledge to practical situations
  • Enhance your business competency
  • Develop your marketing skills
  • Strengthen your professional skills and ability
  • Maximize your potential for management positions
  • Take all 4 courses to earn your designation, or take individual courses to sharpen your professionalism in a particular area

CAIB 1: General Insurance

  • Introduction to general insurance
  • Habitational insurance
  • Other habitational insurance forms and endorsements
  • Personal liability insurance
  • Farm insurance
  • Personal automobile insurance basics
  • Professional service and regulations
  • E&O considerations
  • Travel insurance

To complete your course, you will also be required to register online for your CAIB exam (additional cost: $400 members / $500 non-members). Register for it today!

There are now two ways to register for your exam when you take an Immersion class. Either write alongside the class on the Friday afternoon(1:00pm-4:30pm), or register to write in one of our provincial-wide dates. Should you wish to write with the class you will be asked to select this option upon registration, the option to register for the exam will expire 2 weeks before the first day of class (October 5). This will leave us with enough time to prepare your exam, and should leave you enough time to prepare to write it.

If you do not register to write with the class you will need to register for one of our provincial dates, which are offered widely through the province. The first available exam date following your course is November 4, when the course material should be fresh in your mind, but you can choose any available date.
