It All Started When ...

Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta (IBAA) started way back in 1926 as the "Insurance Agents Association of Alberta" (IAAA). The few by insurance brokers in business at the time came together to network, discuss common issues, and lobby on behalf of brokers. It became quite a powerful little group throughout the mid-20th century.

Today ...

IBAA is a not-for-profit trade association representing over 4200 members through about 260 individual brokerages, and working in over 550 offices throughout Alberta, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Our members live and work in over 150 communities, support their local communities, and are closely connected with insurance consumers, their insurance issues, and the local economy.

Bipper: the trademark for brokers from the association IBAA is also a proud member of Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC), our national counterpart. Together, we believe that consumers are best served through insurance brokers who work to find the best coverage at the right price from a variety of insurers. Our association members are identified by the purple stylized symbol wrapped in a blanket that represents our dedication to insurance consumer protection and trust.
